I have been thinking about you for weeks, but with unemployment, then a new job, I’ve been very selfish and only kept up with you by reading your blog. So congrats on YOUR new job, and I’m so VERY EXCITED (that’s why I’m using all caps) about the house prospect! Here's my two cents (for what it's worth): There is no such thing as the perfect house. They all have one issue or another - trust me, as we have owned five (count 'em, 5) at this point. I have loved them all, and there has been something unnerving about each one, as well. I am finding my present basement a bit damp (and my laundry is down there), but other than that, I love it (especially once we get the addition done, which will solve all my issues - at a price).

(I know you have the damp basement issue, too - how do you handle it? Other than emptying the dehumidifier 4 times a day?)

If it works out, you will be thrilled. If not, you'll find another one. Take my word for it - I have found five. And I'm sure there's another one out there. Somewhere ...
